Batteries

Batteries are a great product as a standard alone system or as an addition to any Solar PV install.  They enable you to save any excess energy generated from your Solar PV system to be stored and used later.  Batteries also allow you to access TOU (Time of Use) tariffs from energy providers, offering energy at lower prices at certain times of the day.  By charging the battery during the night using lower electricity tariffs, you can save money on your household bill and charge Electric cars at a significantly lower electricity rate.

Depending on the battery manufacturer, some batteries can operate during a blackout/electricity cut, therefore enabling you to carry on your day, as usual.

There are two types of battery – AC and DC batteries.  If your install requires an AC battery, we will need to seek permission from The DNO, National Grid, to install, as these batteries sit between your electricity meter and the grid, whereas a DC battery sits between your solar panels and the inverter, so no permission is needed.

If you already have a Solar PV installation, either by us or another company, we can add a battery to your system.  Depending on when you had the original system installed, the FIT payments you receive and the type of equipment installed, we will ensure that a unique system is designed specifically to your and your home’s needs.
